Just 700 metres from Grotto Blueflag Beach, and a pebble’s throw from popular Voëlklip and Nannies’ Beaches, Bird Rock Cottage welcomes you into its easy-going lifestyle. It’s a small, recently built double-storey house. Open-plan living makes for a relaxed indoor-outdoor flow, and the sheltered garden is a lush, tranquil retreat from the brightness of the beach.

Comfort in laid-back style

The bedroom spans the entire top floor. The picture windows in two walls offer views of waves breaking at Grotto and Voëlklip beaches, and as far as Hermanus’ old fishing harbour. You’ll also have views of the mountain close by.

More than a room to retire to at night, this large, airy space is often the preferred living area – perfect for couples or two-child families. (The house can accommodate a maximum of four guests.)

Free 40 Mbps fibre wi-fi is available. A comfortable counter-high desk makes the perfect workstation overlooking the bay.

Close to the beach, top Hermanus restaurants and other attractions

Situated in a quiet residential area of Voëlklip (meaning Bird Rock), the small double-storey house is tucked away from the street. You’ll be within walking distance of the neighbourhood supermarket, close to fine restaurants and just up the road from the beach and lagune, popular for a variety of water sports including kiteboarding. You’ll find plenty of things to do in Hermanus.

Affordable treat

At only R980 per night* for the house (for up to four people), you can’t get much closer to the beach anywhere in Hermanus. The minimum booking duration is two nights.

During High Season (10 Dec to 14 January) the rate is R1 600 per night, for a minimum of 5 nights.

Upstairs is a double bed. Downstairs, in the open-plan living area, is a three-quarter bed in a sleeping alcove (shown in the photos), and a sleeper couch, which is suitable for a child.

The kitchen is equipped with a 271-litre fridge, a two-zone induction stove, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, coffee plungers, and ample cutlery, crockery and glassware.

Bath towels and linen are provided. Please bring your own beach towels.

Firewood for your first braai (on the portable patio braai) will be supplied.

Wifi is available. No TV.

House rules:

We love animals but unfortunately cannot accommodate any visitor’s pet in or at Bird Rock Cottage.

The cottage is a smoke-free zone.
